SECU’s Leigh Brady tops American Banker’s 2024 Most Powerful Women in Credit Unions list

RALEIGH, N.C. – State Employees’ Credit Union (SECU) President and CEO Leigh Brady has been recognized as the leading figure on the 2024 “Most Powerful Women in Credit Unions” list by American Banker.
This marks the second consecutive year Brady has earned a place on the esteemed list, which celebrates women driving innovation and excellence in the credit union industry.

The annual recognition highlights women who address key challenges and opportunities facing credit unions, all while fulfilling the mission of shared services and community connections. The list also aligns with American Banker’s broader commitment
to supporting and advancing women in the financial sector.
“These remarkable women are leading with resilience, innovation, and a steadfast commitment to their members and communities,” said Chana Schoenberger, editor-in-chief of American Banker. “Their achievements are redefining what’s possible in the
credit union industry, paving a way for future leaders to build on their impact.”
Brady, who has been with SECU for 37 years, expressed gratitude for the recognition and credited the collective efforts of her team. “Being named to this prestigious list of Most Powerful Women in Credit Unions alongside 14 incredible leaders is an honor,”
Brady said. “This recognition is a testament to the tremendous support I’ve received along with the hard work and determination of everyone at SECU. I look forward to finding innovative opportunities to improve the financial well-being of our members
and communities.”
SECU Board Chair Mona Moon also commended Brady’s leadership. “Leigh works tirelessly to improve SECU and seeks out ways to better serve our more than 2.8 million members,” Moon said. “She keeps the ‘People Helping People®’ mindset at the forefront of
everything she does and strives to help our organization become better.”
